About Us

It was back in 2008 that the proprietors opened Asian Tea House in Galway bringing in food menus focusing more on the authenticity and staying true to traditions. We believed that respecting traditions expand our lives and generations. The concept was to create a place of pastime and gathering with unique interiors for guests to admire the arts while enjoying the meals and appreciate the aesthetic taste of life.

Then in year 2012, Buddha Bar Galway was created with a trendier concept. Step into Buddha Bar Galway and expect to be wowed by the stunning and exquisite interiors in a buzzing environment. It is one of the hippest venues in Galway with remarkable cocktails which make an unforgettable experience for you. Here, you could enjoy meals with an extensive menu of mesmerizing cocktails or even chat with our mixology mavens over the bar counter. We pride ourselves on constantly adapting and developing our unique and experimental cocktails selection along with a great selection of beers and spirits.

At Asian Tea House Restaurant and Buddha Bar Galway, we focus on fresh and healthy foods. As the first Asian property in Ireland to promote non-use of artificial flavorings or food preservatives, we strive for continuous improvements to create a healthy and delectable dishes.

Do I need reservation to dine in Asian Tea House Restaurant and Buddha Bar?

We welcome walk-in guests but we would recommend to make reservation in advance to avoid disappointment especially during weekends, public holidays and festive seasons. Contact us on +353 (91) 563749 / 563767 or info@asianteahouse.ie info@buddhabar.ie buddhabargalway@gmail.com to make reservation.

Do I need reservation for DRINKS ONLY?

We DO NOT take bookings for drinks only especially on busy evenings, so, just pop into Buddha Bar and we will try our best to accommodate you. If no table is available, you may just approach the bar counter and order accordingly.

As for Asian Tea House Restaurant, we are serving both food and drinks and do not serve drinks only. 

Can I request a certain table for my booking?

You can request a table when you are booking a table. But, sometimes it might not be possible to fulfil the request. We will try our best to accommodate each request but we COULD NOT guarantee it. 

Can we dine in Buddha Bar Galway?

Yes. Both bar and restaurant full menus are readily available in Buddha Bar.

Does the Buddha Bar Galway offer Cocktail Making / Cocktail Demos?

You may email us directly on buddhabargalway@gmail.com for any query on the cocktail making experience which included our Signature Cocktails and Experimental Cocktails. 

Do you serve non-alcoholic drinks / mocktails?

Yes. We served non-alcoholic beers, mocktails along with soft drinks and fruit juices. Feel free to ask our staff for their recommendations and the availability.

Is there dress code?

Smart casual, no tracksuits, no training gear. Our Management reserves the right to refuse admission.

Are pets welcomed?

Blind dogs and assistance dogs are welcome only.

Are special dietary menus available?

We accommodate guests with food allergies and special dietary needs. Our menus indicate dishes which can be made into Vegan (VEGAN) and/or Gluten-free (GF) version(s) and is/are available UPON REQUEST only. Please inform our team of any food allergies upon ordering so our kitchen team can modify the dishes.

 

All our dishes are freshly prepared and made in the same area and may come into contact with traces of food allergens despite our good faith efforts in preparing and serving our dishes to exclude specific food allergen(s).

What type of cuisines can I expect?

Our wide selection of menus allows all to choose from many cuisines of Asian countries; China, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam with a twist from our kitchen team.

 

To give you an insight of our dishes, please find below some of our availability.

 

Variety of Curries:

Kari Ayam (Chicken Curry), Kari Lembu (Beef Curry), Roti Canai (wheat layered Roti pancakes / flatbread served with creamy coconut curry), Kaeng Massaman Gai (Thai Chicken Curry), Jawa Ren-Dang (Indonesian Spicy and Rich Dry Curry), Thai Green or Red Curry (Green Curry cooked from green chillies whereas Red Curry cooked from dried red chillies; both contain coconut milk, herbs and spices) and Panang Nua (Thai Curry).

 

Variety of Noodle Dishes / Noodle Bowls / Chow Mein (literally means “Stir Fried Noodles”):

From Japan:

Udon Noodle (thick wheat noodle) and Ramen (thin wheat noodle). Both types are available in many noodle dishes and in different cooking methods.

From Malaysia:

Penang Char Koay Teow (Stir fried flat rice noodle with seafood in homemade spicy shrimp paste)

From Singapore:

Singapore Noodle (stir fried fine wheat noodles with mixed seafood) and Singapore Har Min (literally means Prawn Noodles).

From Thailand:

Pad – Thai (Or Phad Thai / Pad Thai is a popular Thai stir fry rice noodles with prawns and homemade Pad-Thai paste), Pad See Ew (simply “Stir fried Soy/Soya sauce noodle in homemade chili basil paste),  

Can you tell me more about your dishes with No Added Preservatives?

As a defense of the dishes subtle flavors, we do not add any artificial food enhancers such as Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) in all of our dishes. Even the seasoning and sauces we used are sparingly to bring out the ingredients’ natural flavors of our fresh food. Our dishes sometimes could be described as “light on flavor” in the kindest terms. But for some who prefers dishes with stronger flavor, please do not hesitate to let our team know.  

Tell us about your produce and ingredients.

We believe that the secret is not only in the sauce but in the produce itself

  • Galway is known for having an abundant supply of fresh fish and seafood, thus, our seafood is delivered daily
  • Our beef is 100% Irish prime rib eye steak
  • We use 100% Irish pork fillet, unless otherwise stated
  • Our ducks are Silver Hill ducks and roasted in house daily
  • Our tofu is made in house using unsweetened genetically modified (GM)-free soya milk
  • All our curries and sauces are freshly made using herbs and spices. It is normal to find some residue of spices such as cardamoms, cinnamon sticks or star aniseed in the curries.
What is your culinary concept?

Our chefs’ team came from all over Asia with extensive experience and we focus on fresh and healthy foods. For example, whole fish are cooked on the bone to preserve its natural flavors, the flavoursome sauce of our succulent barbecued ribs is cooked from the meat jus from the roast.

Is it possible to book for an upcoming event? (Birthday Party, Company’s Event, Engagement Party, Gathering Party, Hen’s Party, Stag’s Party, Staff Party)?

Yes. Both Asian Tea House Restaurant and Buddha Bar cater for any events and gatherings. However, we can only accommodate certain number of people to ensure comfortable and memorable experience for everyone.

Do you have Set Menu for Group Booking?

Set Menu is available upon requests. Please do not hesitate to contact us via e-mail on buddhabargalway@gmail.com and our team shall send you the Set Menus for reference. Our Set Menu / Festive Set Menu is subject to change as is it planned seasonally and the items listed are subject to availability. 

Do you provide Food Delivery service?

The Food Delivery service stop operating as of 20 February 2023. We apologised for any inconvenience this has caused. 

Do you charge Service Charge on the customer's bill?

There is NO SERVICE CHARGE on the bill. 

Does your staff / employee / team members get the tips / gratuities given by customers?

Yes. All Tips and Gratuities are distributed to all our staff on a basis agreed with our staff. This include all the tips / gratuities paid through electronic payment and cash. 

Does the Pricing in your menus include VAT / Service Charge ?

All our Menus (A La Carte, Restaurant menu, Bar Noodle menu, Cocktail Menu, Set Menu, Festive Menu) include VAT.

 

We do not add Service Charge / Gratuities / Tips to our bills. 

 

At Asian Tea House and Buddha Bar Galway, we make every effort to ensure that prices and items listed on our menus are up-to-date and correct. However, the prices and items listed on our website & any social platforms menus are subject to change without prior notice.

When menu and/or price changes are made, those changes may not be immediately reflected on this website or any social platforms. We update our web pages as often and as quickly as we can. Sometimes these posts may be delayed for different reasons.

We reserve the right to change menu items and/or the prices that accompany those items as they appear on the menus at our restaurant, bar, website and any social platforms.

Gift Vouchers

Gift vouchers can be purchased directly from Asian Tea House Restaurant.

You may also phone us directly on 091 563749 / 563767 to purchase vouchers over the phone. We will then email you the scanned copies of the vouchers. 

Our gift vouchers can be used in Asian Tea House Restaurant, the Buddha Bar Galway and Take-away. So it is a meaningful yet practical gift for your family and friends and even as a gift for company staff dinner!

 

Terms and Conditions

The Asian Tea House and Buddha Bar Galway are the Trading Names of Buddha Lounge & Restaurant Limited.

  • Our Gift Voucher may only be used as full or part payment for food and beverages in Asian Tea House Restaurant and Buddha Bar Galway for dining in and take away services.
  • The Gift Voucher is non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
  • The validation period is 5 years from date of issue of the Gift Voucher. With exception to vouchers given as part of Customer Loyalty / Promotion Scheme which will have specific expiry date and blackout dates.
  • We exclude all liabilities towards Loss, Stolen, Tampered or Damaged Gift Voucher. Loss, Stolen and Tampered voucher will NOT be replaced. However, should the damaged gift card/voucher still show a clear readable series number and has not been redeemed, we may exchange it.
